Happy New Year!

AIHA PAT Programs hopes that all participants enjoyed a joyous holiday season and wishes everyone a very Happy New Year!

2018 Invoices Now Available

Please note that participants were notified of the 2018 annual invoices on December 05, 2017. The invoice was generated based on your organization’s current participation in the AIHA PAT Programs and were sent if payment was not made online. Payment terms are NET 30 Days for all annual invoices unless special payment arrangements are made. Any past due invoice on file will result in samples and results being held due to nonpayment. If you have not yet paid your 2018 PAT invoice, hard copies will be mailed out the week of January 15, 2018. Please contact Anthony Hodge via email if you have not received notice of your invoice, or if you have any questions/concerns regarding your 2018 enrollment.

IHPAT, IHPAT Diffusive Sampler, ELPAT Air Sample Update

The IHPAT, IHPAT Diffusive Sampler, and ELPAT Air samples, starting with 213 (IHPAT/ELPAT Air) and 214 (Diffusive Sampler), will look different for enrolled participants. As mentioned in the October newsletter, AIHA PAT Programs has moved the IHPAT/Diffusive/ELPAT Air samples to a new vendor, RTI International. The new contract begins with samples shipped for the April 1, 2018 rounds. One final note, MOH, starting with IHPAT Organics Round 213, will be sent on a new matrix - molecular sieve. Please let us know if you have any questions at info.PATLLC@aiha.org.

2018 PAT Portal Update

AIHA PAT Programs staff has been preparing for this change for more than a year, and we’re pleased to inform you that the new PAT Portal is live! The PAT Portal gives participants access to new features and functions:

  1. Individuals can log in and update their own contact information (email and phone)
  2. Individual analysts can enter data – no single user ID and Password for an organization
  3. The Data Dashboard provides a consolidated data entry point – all program data entry and proficiency reports in one place
  4. Consistent reports across all programs - your clients and accreditation bodies will recognize the AIHA PAT Programs brand

Let us know if we need to create a new contact record for you if you were not listed in the previous database. Please indicate your program contact type, or adminstative/billing role, when requesting a new contact record.

Please note, as of January 1, 2018 bookmarks to legacy portals will not work. The direct link to the PAT Portal is: https://online.aihapat.org/patssa/

If you do not remember your password, or need to set one for the first time, please do the following:

  1. Navigate to the password recovery page
  2. Enter the Username provided in this email
  3. Confirm the email address we have in the system
  4. Follow the instructions in the password reset email that is sent

2018 Report Format Update

With the launch of the new PAT Portal, the participants reports will be updated. The biggest changes will be seen by BAPAT, BePAT, and EMPAT (Culture and Direct) participants as we carry a consistent format through all the program reports. The reports will also be broken into two parts – the first being the round report, the second being the summary report.

EMPAT Program Updates

Starting January 1, 2018, AIHA PAT Programs will be sending out all EMPAT Culture samples and EMPAT Direct Exam images. Please direct all questions to AIHA PAT Programs staff as the EMPAT Coordinator emails will no longer be forwarded.

Administering the EMPAT Program directly has allowed AIHA PAT Programs to lower costs, which we were able to pass along to EMPAT Participants in the 2018 Annual Invoices. In addition, the new data portal will provide a stable platfom with high quality images and enable quicker turnaround time for reports.

We hope you notice the increase in EMPAT quality in 2018. Please let us know how we’re doing by contacting any AIHA PAT Programs staff member.

2018 IHPAT Upcoming Analytes List Updated: 1-BPP in 212 and 214

The Upcoming Analytes list has been updated for IHPAT Rounds 214 and 215. In order to get a better understanding of participant analysis of 1-bromopropane (1-BPP), starting with IHPAT Round 212, we are putting it on the slate two times in 2018. This change provides AIHA PAT Programs an opportunity to compare contaminants and evaluate sample generation performance across two subcontractors. With this in mind, we will replicate the IHPAT 212 contaminants in the IHPAT 214 round. Thank you for your understanding as we cycle a new contaminant into the Organic Solvents program and welcome a new subcontractor to the IHPAT program. The updated Upcoming Analytes list can be found here.

If your laboratory is not able to analyze 1-BPP, please request an excused absence prior to the round close date.

US EPA Seeking Public Comment on Recordkeeping for Local Education Agencies (LEAs)

The US EPA is seeking public comment on a proposed information collection request concerning the burden associated with recordkeeping requirements imposed on LEAs by the asbestos in schools rule, and reporting and recordkeeping requirements imposed on states and training providers related to the model accreditation plan rule. This proposed information collection request falls under the auspices of the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA). As indicated in the Federal Register notice, AHERA requires LEAs to conduct inspections, develop management plans, and design or conduct response actions with respect to the presence of asbestos-containing materials in school buildings. AHERA also requires States to develop model accreditation plans for persons who perform asbestos inspections, develop management control plans, and design or conduct response actions.

Comments must be received on or before March 5, 2018. For complete information on this information collection request, please visit the Federal Register.

FEATURED PROGRAM

Bulk Asbestos Proficiency Analytical Testing Program (BAPAT)

The BAPAT is a proficiency testing program and serves as an external quality assurance program for laboratories analyzing bulk building materials by polarized light microscopy (PLM). It is designed to provide bulk audit samples on a quarterly basis, and to provide a means by which a laboratory can evaluate its ability to characterize bulk materials. The program is both qualitative and semi-quantitative in nature. Learn more about the BAPAT program.
